Re:I survived the Dragon! 5 Years, 1 Month ago
Just to add a couple of the funny/stupid things that happened during the trip. I know you guys will appreciate these 2 bits of story tellin.....

1. My bike wouldn't start right the morning we're leaving. I have been cranking it with no choke and it was just turning over coughing and dying. This went on for an eternity (2 min). I started it with the choke and it kept dying for yet another eternity (1-2 min). It finally caught and the entire group was off. Bear in mind I am the lead dog on this journey. Nobody wanted to say anything to me but my bike was running like shit. Smokin on acceleration and had a noxious odor of gas behind me that was choking out everyone. I didn't know about the last 2 parts but I did know my bike was running like shit, coughing, sputtering, dying while in idle. I was freakin out and getting pissed. I casually reached down and lo and behold what was it. MY damned choke was half out. I burned almost half a tank of gas in just under 40 miles. HOLY SHIT I felt like an idiot. Gotta ribbed pretty good when we stopped for breakfast.

2. When we got there people ran into the bathroom at the Ironhorse where we stayed. Ed procedded in and apparantley had more business than the rest of us so to speak. He closed the door, did his thing, and then we heard the most god awful racket. He started beating on the door yelling that us bastards had better let him out. He thought we had locked him in. He was pushing out on a pocket door that slides in the wall. Can't tell you the look on his face when we figured out what he had done. Ed won the JACKASS of the TRIP award.

If you run into a 6'5" guy from South Africa that rides a V-Star, his new name is POCKET DOOR. (said with a SA accent)

I rode the dragon last fall. Its a awesome ride. If you ever get a chance to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway do that as well. Its a more laid back riding through the mountains. Highest point 6,022.
