Re:Spit, sputter, cough. 2 Years, 2 Months ago
in that temp and that short a trip, nothing is wrong. Granted, living in Fl I can ride all year, we had an unusually cold winter this past yr with morning temps in the upper 30's that lasted for a week at a time, normally it's 1 or 2 days Takes a good 10 miles for the engine to reach proper temps, and I needed to richen the pilot screw by about 1/3 turn. Gas does not atomize as well in cold temps, so increasing the flow in the pilot ckts, there is more gas that can atomize. It's a carb, it can't adjust gas for cold temps like fuel injection. For me, in the cold morns, I usually keep the choke on for 3 to 5 miles, then I'll feather the throttle to keep the rpms up till fully warmed, in warmer temps a mile or 2 with choke, and feather the throttle if needed.
