Anyone ever own/ride one? Looking at one for a bobber project(XS 650's are hard to find and super $$). Looking for anything good/bad. Its an 82 Heritage Special.

Never rode one. I have a '79 XS1100 that needs a good home though. It runs but needs a little TLC.

Jamie:

Did my research and found the same thing out about the XS650s. Here's an alternative I've been looking at for a Bobber project bike

Soft tail, chain driven, V-Twin look, plenty of aftermarket, etc..

Honda Shadow 600 VLX

Just a thought...

Trying to get away from a V-twin though. And I'm stuck on Yamaha because the dealer is a 5 minute walk from my house. And I don't like any of the other dealers in my area. Man, I'm really limiting my options here.

If you weren't so far away, I would maybe take you up on that.

Like I said, just an alternative platform that I've been looking at.

Price on these are 1/2 of an XS and there are about 20 years worth of inventory out there.

Should be able to build a nice Bobber for under 6K.

Imagine this one with a Springer front end and apes...
