Funny you mention this today I I was doing a pretrip inspection I noticed this as well. You will notice though when you check your brake lights they are noticalbe even in the brightest light. I added Led bulltet running lights a while back and they are also noticalbe in any light. If you are going to keep the tail light get some rear running lights

Ya can lay on yer belly and get a better viewing angle...but most drivers comin up on ya from the rear are going to view the tail light thru many angles and ALL should be visible...

AND NO the sunlight is not reflecting off the sig lens because I have the visors on them ..it is the light you see

And I did try the brake on and it isnt a hell of a lot better...

Im sorry but the F'in tail light is no F'in good in the sunlight...and ya can come on down any way ..I will pull ya a cold one...

If ya can make those lights more visible..I will even buy ya the brewery...

Post edited by: Pop Rivet, at: 2007/04/21 20:15

Yep I noticed that right off after I bought the bike. That is why when I bought the running lights for the front and they already had the turn/running lights on them I took my old front turn/running light from the front and replace the turn lights in the back. I still don't like the clear lens. I have one set of amber lens and am looking for a set for the rear. I might just paint the clear lens red. I don't guess the older R* red tail light assembly would fit in place of the newer ones HUH?

Sometimes it don't matter what color you have on yer rear end, especially when the idiot behind you is not even watching the road in front of him.
About a week ago I was on the highway with my signal on, waiting to turn left, as traffic proceeded to 'rightside' me through the shoulder, I heard the awful sound of tires sliding behind me.
I looked in the rearveiw mirror, and saw a Mazda truck coming right at me with his brakes locked up and we wasn't going to get stopped in time! I couldn't turn either way due to traffic! So I hung on and hoped for the best (picturing a MAZDA emblem implanted in my colon), I opened my eyes seconds later to find the MAZDA went right out into the lane of oncoming traffic to avoid me. There was no collision, but it scared the crap out of me. The guy in the Mazda crapped his pants I'm sure. And the guy in the oncoming Dodge was a little pissed he got run out of his lane.
...Me, I'm just happy to be here in one peice, with my white lense/ red LED tailight.
