OK, so let me pose this question to the MC people (with all do respect).
In the last year I have received notice from PGR to NOT wear the PGR patch in certain states. My question is "WHAT MC doesn't know about the PGR and WHAT the PGR does?" The patch is a god awful mint green and black and it's a triangle.
The PGR is a group of people, mostly bikers (riders and enthusiasts and some club members), who wanted to stand tough between the idiots that were protesting funerals of our fallen hero's and the grieving family's. I would think that EVERY MC would support the PGR unless THEY agree with the protesters.
The rest of the MC rules I understand, it's the BS about the PGR Patch that pisses me off.
Most of the time, its nothing to do with the patch itself... it could be that someone wearing that patch did something to piss the MC off... that is all it could take...
A brief story to back that up... In PA, a STAR member lied to a Pagan... not just one STAR member or just one occasion... that pissed them off and said that STAR could not wear their vests displaying their back patch at all... in which nobody did, until the situation was rectified...
Dont know why they are saying to not wear the PGR patch in certain states, but there is a reason for every one of the states... you may want to contact the State Captains and find out...

It was never discussed in the PGR forum WHY we couldn't or WHAT happened, we were just told to NOT wear the "Large PGR Back patch" (1 piece) when traveling through certain states.
Now as much as you have discussed on this site that "there is always one in a group" the MC's should know that about the riders who wear the PGR patch, there's always going to be one tough guy. With that I say pull his patch!
When we talk about hurting or killing someone because they are wearing a certain color, that's a GANG mentality, and we as a free nation should not tolerate it. I served our nation to be free, not to be repressed by a few. My .02 cents

The only state I heard about was OK. The way I heard it was PGR had an agreement with an MC in OK concerning their back patch. Rumors abide that at some point, earlier this year, there were some PGR riders running around flying their back patch either posing as MC members, acting a fool out in establishments, or in some other way contrary to the agreement. Never did get any solid details other than they breached an agreement with the MC and or COC in some way. They called them on it and told the PGR leaders no more back patch in OK. Since then I heard they have made progress in restoring their trust. Check with OK COC for current status.

I've had personal interaction with many MC's while patrolling as a state Trooper. As many have already stated, there are a lot of good club members out there with good reputations. The 1%'s I have known responded as they were treated, with respect. That being said, I find it hard to believe that someone who is proud to be a 1%'er (proud to be known as a criminal element) is good for society? How can intimidation be a "right"? If you are proud to be a criminal, take the consequences like a man, don't be shy!
The small percentage of bikers who rely on the gang mentality to bolster their self image make life difficult for the rest of the responsible motorcycle riders and any other citizens they feel the urge to inflict themselves upon.
Everyone has the right to live without fear of being bullied. From birth to death, we all will encounter versions of 1%'s in many walks of life. Be smart, make good decisions. I have no interest in wearing colors, rockers, etc., but stay out of my life 1%'s and I will stay out of yours. A gang patch does not give you any rights above and beyond every other citizen in this country. I totally agree with many of the previous posts. The real men and women are those who defended (and still defend) our country and die to preserve our freedoms. Even an outlaw biker can understand that. It is always a good idea to be informed, and that goes both ways.
Be safe everyone, and have a Merry Christmas!
Keep in mind many 1%ers defended our country as well and not all 1%ers are criminals.

It's a big deal that a number of them can beat a lesser number of them. Wow I respect that! People who served in the military (And paid attention) know true leadership traits, None displayed in a gang. A riders club is ok, not for me....... Plenty out there doing a lot of good and saving the bike image from what it was to decline to had they not been founded. I'm in Lone Wolf arena but I don't even have that patch. And that reminds me, Marines, what's a Patch?
Anyone seen that special on the MC gang in Canada? (History channel I think) Where did they all end up?
You are wrong in that colors = gang. Have you not read that there are many MC's who are not a criminal element. In fact, the majority are not.

I think the issue isn't about colors or whether or not you are in an MC. The issue is threats of/acts of violence. Terrorism is terrorism. Why condone it here when we fight so hard against it everywhere else.

I guess I missed the part about why then are they called or consider themselves 1%? I've been under the impression that the 1% of MC's are the criminals, the ones that feel the laws don't apply to them? Help me out here, what is a 1%er then?

In regards to the Large PGR patch ( Triangle ) it was the colours for Banditos down in Oklahoma. They wear the same colours as the PGR patch.

Copied from the Oklahoma PGR Site
The previous uniform & display policy for the PGR in Oklahoma is hereby rescinded.
Effective 13 Aug 09, the PGR back patch is not authorized for wear at anytime in the State of Oklahoma. All other PGR paraphernalia may be displayed during PGR missions and PGR-related activities. Permanent/semi-permanent items, such as stickers & decals make be displayed anytime on any item or vehicle (i.e, helmets, motorcycles, cages, etc.).
To clarify: The back patch is out. Anything else you put on your vest, jacket, T-shirt, hat, doorag (or any other personal garment) is IN, any time. Flags, banners, signs, magnets, etc. are IN for PGR-related activities or missions. Stickers and decals are OK on anything, any time...
