Passenger Seat Question 5 Years, 1 Month ago
After riding 2 up this past weekend my lady friend informed me her nice round rear was sore. I informed her it was a planned deal from the factory so I could rub it back into shape, but I don't think she bought it.. .. I have the stock seat for both myself and the passenger. I don't have a problem with the drivers seat and I am not ready to fork out 600+ for a mustang, but would buy her the passenger seat if it would keep her tush somewhat happy. Would a mustang passenger seat work with a stock drivers seat? I have a firehouse drivers back rest and my not so round arse is fine. I will eventially go with a mustang but not until the stock one wears out.

Could you get a gel pad for her? Probably would help. I don't think mustang sells the seat in seperate pieces.

I was looking at the gel pads and you can almost buy a passenger seat for what they are asking for some of the pads. I was thinking if they did sell them seperate I could get one piece at a time. My luck they probably don't...

She doesn't need a softer seat, she needs a wider seat. No offense. Women pelvic area are different than men's and a wide seat is more comfortable.

Doc's correct (gratuitous suck up ), when I got my Mustang seat one of the first things I noticed was the larger width and depth of the pillion. I hadn't taken my wife on any long rides so she didn't really have a chance to complain about the stock pillion but it would have eventually happened. If you're going to wait until the stock seat wears out all I can say is good luck, it'll be forever before that sucker wears out. An aftermarket seat (and pillion) is probably one of the wisest investments you'll make. IMHO

Side note: I got major points with my wife today, I got her and her mother tickets to "Josh Groban".......whoever the hell he is. She was pretty dang happy, I better shop for some chrome while she's still on her high. I figure for the $160 I spent on those tickets I can spend at least $500 on bike stuff.

edit: I just noticed you have the short backrest too, I bet she'd be happier with the tall one as well. Unless you like her holding onto you for dear life.

Post edited by: RoadieFF, at: 2007/04/26 17:04

Thanks guys,, Doc you almost had the solution, but the drivers back rest that I have mounts on the stock pillon bracket. With the Ultimate Seat you have to change the bracket. So I would have to get both the pillon and the rider back rest with this option. Which I may do. I like the look. Just trying to please the lady and the wallet at the same time... Damn hard to do....

In reply to your question... the mustang passenger seat won't work with the stock seat... mustang has you remove the bracket too ~Guido
