Leather Tank Bra Question 5 Years, 1 Month ago
|
|
To anyone with a Yami leather tank bra...
I just picked up one of these, used, on eBay.
The question I have is about attaching the two tabs at the front. They appear to have the loop side of Velcro on them and wrap around the front of the tank...do I just need to put some industrial Velcro hook side strips on the underside of the tank? Do these things flap around in the wind as much as I'm afraid they might?
TIA,
RK

Hey RK
You might not have got all the pieces. I got mine from Chilhowee and the velcro for the front had to pieces with sticky backs. These get stock inside the tunnel in the front of the tank and then you stick the velcro on the bib to those. Then at the back there is a leather lace that you tie around the frame under the seat. Mine's good and tight. Doesn't flap at all.

Thanks, Musky! That's exactly what I thought...I guess the other half of the Velcro is still on the previous owner's tank... The Yami variation doesn't have lace, but instead has two clips on the opposite side that clip onto the lip of the tank under where it meets the seat. I just wanted to confirm the Velcro thing, because I do have some industrial grade Velcro that sticks so well I better make darn sure it's where I want it the FIRST time I place it...

Leave the two pieces of Velcro stuck together, then pull the paper off the sticky side, run the straps under the tank, and stick them to the tank when everything is lined up. That way you know they're in the right place.
Not that I did it the other way first and had to get new sticky pieces. I just heard that it could happen.

Any ill effects to the paint after the bra has been on a while? I think back to the late 80's, early 90's when everyone threw bras on their cars. The paint underneath took a beating.
