Dude...I hope you didn't feel like I was cutting you or something. I googled the original info and came across the link that I posted. I just wanted to share the link so any other members didn't have to do the google search thing and go directly to it.

This is just my opinion re sticky valves. Dealers and most shops are not the most reliable concerning the jetting of the Roadstar engine. I have never had sticky valves, st least not yet.

I have talked to the Yami shop, a couple of mechanics I have the highest regard for, and I have talked to the Guzzi shop that has a nationaly recognized mechanic working for them and they are all JET CRAZY.

My 07 Roady has stock everything and a factory 182.5 main. Both shops and a dude in the HD shop that I chat with on occasion say when I open the intake and let her breath, I will have to step up "at least 6 to 10 numbers in size". Can you imagine ?

These same gurus say that when I goto aftermarket exhaust I will need at least 3 numbers bigger. WHAT ????

My point is (after all of these ramblings), don't always listen to a guy just because he has someone pay him to work on a lot of different motorcycles. I think you will get better info if you talk to and visit with people who ride and work on Roadstars.

I ride the slap out of my 1700 and other that vibrations that are to be expected from cylinders this big, I have had no probs. I use cheap gas and good oil and exercise the range of rpm quite often.

I know this is not an answer to you prob, just my ramblings

Re:Another Case of the Sticky Valve Syndrome 5 Years ago
Well I wasted a day at the dealer on Saturday. It was just supposed to be crack it open time and check the settings it turned into the all day nightmare with me sitting there trying to be nice but getting really pissed.

the main is 170 and it is on the 4th clip.

they tried readjusting the jetting as the new tech and now the shop manager seem to think that the one that did the job (who is no longer there) did not really do the job he was supposed to. (No shit)

The shop manager said he is getting the main Yama dude to come in to turn a wrench on this thing and see what happens now.

After the latest rejet, it has a poor throttle response, will not idle and dies if you let off the gas. Runs great if your doing over 70 below that with the low and mid jets FORGET IT.

I am dropping if off again today with a few more choice words. I have had it. This is the last chance, next step it's lawyer time. I don't know what else to do.

Oh yea wanted to add that I read that memo standing at the counter of the shop. Trying to put the blame on the customer, what a crock of shit.

I feel for you.

It seems that most riders have a frustrating time interacting with dealers (not all) and that's why most seem to stay away.

Unless it a major problem that's covered by warranty then I stay away from the dealer. If I need any help, I hit forums to find out the solutions.

Yes, the bulletin is a CYA piece of paper. I guess it could literally be used for that purpose.

Yea I am in Winder and have been going up to Gainesville.

Here's the latest on my on going saga of shame and misfortune.

Said that the old tech who is no longer there screwed things up. Used the Baron's jet kit that came with the BAK. According to dealer, they don't mess with BJK adn this is the likely cause of the majority of my F-ups.

Soooooooooooooooooooooo. they ordered a Dynojet Kit yesterday and are going to reject and start over from scratch. They seem to now think that if if was jetted so poorly that this caused the massive build up of carbon and now the memo crap

I don't care what it is as long as they get it freakin right.

Hey BB what city are you in brother?

There are a lot of BAKs out there running the Baron's jet kit.

From what you described it looks like the 'new' tech is no better than the 'old' tech. If it was jetted too rich why not just use the Baron's kit to lean it out? You can also run rich with a DJ kit.

I'm under the impression that any resolution of your problem will be as a result of luck rather than skill.

I wish you luck with you on-going saga.
