Question about idle knob location 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I just put on a K&N forcewinder and am trying to clean up the extra room. Can I relocate the idle control knob by just tucking it up out of the way and securing it? I have had my Roadstar for 2 years and have only messed with it a couple times. It just sticks out like a sore thumb now, and the bracket it is on now looks real bad. Also along the same lines can I mount the crankcase vent hose with a filter, just zip tied along the frame under the tank?
Thanks

Better put more hose on the vent and run it out the bottom of the bike unless ya want oil gunk all over everything. I ran mine just in front of the swing arm it goes down next to the battery.

I found this relocation solution on a Yamaha V-Star forum web site...(click on the link...)
Basically, it puts the choke knob in the cover of the fuel pump cover (well, for us anyway...)
they also give the cable part number that they use on their bikes... (not sure if it will fit our Stars...)

Interesting site ... thanks.

BTW ... he's looking to relocate the idle not the choke.

Yes you can use that one but as Curt and Carl pointed out you're going to get oil coming out.

Most folks reroute the vent hose so it exits under the bike; mine is beside the tank vent hose but I don't have a filter on it.
