Fuel Filter 2 Years, 3 Months ago
I am going to remove my fuel pump and I am wondering what fuel filter those who have gone pumpless are running?

I have seen on the site a couple mentioned
1) Russell Competition Fuel Filters
2) Pingel

I know this is not an all inclusive list so can the guys who have gone pumpless please weigh in and let me know what you have and why you went with that one.

Thanks
Nathan

Pingle, it looked to suitable for the mounting location, it is hi flow, and it unscrews and you can clean the filter and replace it. Last filter you will buy, on road serviceability. Priceless. Maxair.

Bought my gas filter at NAPA. Painted it satin black & it disappeared.

Yeh, I just perused what was available at Autozone... settled on one, and it works just fine. Had to have been under $5.

No need for high flow... our beasts don't suck down gas at a high rate, and gravity forces enough through to adequately feed it.

One of the things I forgot to do when I went pumpless was to vent my fuel cap. I did that and installed a pingle tank valve and a pingle fuel filter to match; they're pricey but work and look great!!

It probably isn't that big of a deal since most are doing fine with them but I did some checking and the Pingel and other similar types are 40-70 micron size filters. I'll be installing a Wix 33011 plastic see-thru that is less than $5 and it's a 12 micron. Like I said, it may just be overkill to filter that small but I'm like that. LoL

I got a deal on a black Russel on eBay and it works great. It also has a replaceable/cleanable filter inside. I think I paid $12.00.

Is venting the fuel tank needed when losing the pump?
