Dropped Bike 5 Years ago
I cannot believe, this morning going out the door, I had roadie warming up on the driveway, I turn my back for 10 seconds and roadie is on its side.
Damage done was cracked / bent left rear turn signal and some rash to the engine big bar. Not that bad I guess. I should have know the driveway is not a safe place considering how much the roadie wags when idling.

I am looking for suggestions to replacing or upgrading my rear turn signal and maybe the brake light in addition if there is a cool LED set out there. This is for a 2003 R*.

Thanks for any suggestions for new replacement parts...and go ahead and kick me for leaving roadie unattended on the driveway...or go ahead and admit that you have had this happen to you.

Not gonna kick ya. I dropped mine a week after I got it. Not the same way as you but the way I did it I still knew better. Everyone does it sooner or later.

Probably a first for you but it's not the first time.

You can buy stock parts off e-bay or you can go with anything that turns your crank. The 1600 rear fender is not indented like the 1700 so you can use any HD rear light, plate and turn signal setup.

03MochaStar,
Don't feel bad I think everyone has had a similar experience at least once. I did one worse I pulled my bike into the garage and started leaning it over to only realize I didn't put the kick stand down! Once it started going I pulled my shoulder out trying to stop it from going all the way to no avail. Couldn't ride for 3 weeks cause of my shoulder

Hey don't sweat it. Last year at Americade I pull up to park in a gas station,
my feet were wet and I thought I had the stand down till I leaned the bike over . I ended up with two skinned knees and a bruised ego. Then to top that off some guy walks up to me and says" they make kick stands for those things
you know". .

Man - how rediculous! Glad that never happened to me..........wait - it did!
I stood there and watched as my bike idled and rocked itself off the kickstand that was not all the way forward. Now every time I park the bike I make sure to move it back to get the stand all the way forward.

Amazing how the adrenaline kicks in and you can pick up 700 lbs.

There is one on ebay right now price at $20 listed as new used condition. Or there is a really sharp kuryakyn set up for about 250, I think. Doc pasted the link in a different thread before.

Re:Dropped Bike 5 Years ago
I guess sooner or later we all will drop the scooter. I was backing mine out of the garage, I have a habit of leaving the kick stand down when I back it out of the garage. Once out I let her settle on the stand while I close the garage. This time for some reason I put the stand up and backed out. As you can guess once out I let her lean over to settle on the stand and suddenly was met with the sinking feeling that it was leaning too far. By the time I realized the stand was up I was well on my way. The problem is that my pickup is parked in the driveway right next to me. I fell with my shoulder, neck and head against the side of the truck. The good thing was it stopped the bike effectively pinning me to the truck. Adrenaline kicked in and I managed to pull the scooter back up and get the stand down. No injuries to me or the scoot, well I was very sore for several days around the neck and shoulder, but no long lasting injuries. I guess all that weight lifting has finally paid off.
