It has been my experence that the longer the pipe the deeper the rumble. I like the sound of the longer pipes, but like the look of the short pipes. I currently have the V&H Short Shots with Monster baffels in them and I'm pretty happy with them. But nothing replaces the sound of longer pipes.

Your question is not going to be answered by asking people what they think are the best.

Everyone got the pipes they have because they LOVE the sound. so they are all going to say that what they have is the "best".

I personally don't like loud, sharp, "poppy" sounding exhaust like a lot of harleys have. I like a loud, deep growl, and one that has some balls when you twist the throttle. I think a lot of "long shot type" pipes are obnoxious to listen to because a lot of them are ear piercing sharp, and think that just because its loud, its better. my bike is loud but it thumps instead of pops.

i have bub jug huggers. I think V&H has the short shots that sound kinda similar but the bubs sound a little beefier. Here is a clip of the short shots. I cant find any videos of Bub Jug Huggers that do the pipes justice.

Trob, I'm with you. My best bud bought a Roadie with V&H Long Shots on it, and we both thought it was entirely too loud, and not that pleasant to listen to either. He got them off real quick.

Had Samson Shoguns on. Have HK 3" now. Daughter has them on her 1100 V-Star and I love the tone. We'll see soon enough how they sound on my R*.
