I did mine too. Sounds nice. But I wonder how they got them slotted so nicely. Mine look like passenger side of a revolver.

I did the stage 1, then went on to stage 2, but ultimately gutted the entire stock mufflers. Love the sound and no flutter LOL! I finally put on the Kromewerks I had laying around for almost a year so if anyone interested I would sell the gutted stockers. They have all the inner plates and baffles removed and got one heck of a workout doing it with a few choice words also LOL .

I used an air die grinder with a carbide burr to shape it up. I am going in again to clean it up even better as I think I will stay with this setup for now.

Hey, I may start the work tonight so, a quick question I haven't seen asked/answered before or, in the tech article.

After I remove the cones, how far back are the back plates behind the cones? In other words, how long of a drill bit do I need to comfortably reach the back plate without grinding the chrome off the end with the chuck?

Oh ya, one more, with the offset in the length of the stock pipes and how close together they are, how can you drill a hole at 12 o'clock in the lower more forward pipe? Won't the drill body get in the way and prevent you from drilling straight hole?

I guess I need to just dive in and this stuff will become clear in the doing.

Their about 2 inches in. Use a half inch bit to drill the holes. And there's no problem with the drilling. Just jump in and do it. You'll be glad you did.

It's only about 2in back a regular length drill bit works fine and the plate is real soft steel. You can punch a hole in it with an awl its so soft. Look at the pic that Roadstarnewbie posted and it shows a good view of the depth. It's a very easy mod with great results.

I just did the stage 1 and that lasted about. 1 ride I skipped stage 2 and wnet to stage 3 it gives the bike a much deeper tone its good for now but still too quiet for me. Just rember when you go to stage 3 you may have to adjust the pms to get the backfire out at hard decel.

As per the Stage 2-3 or what ever. It requires the drilling of the inner baffel and I think the removal of the center Pipe as well. The inner baffel is way in the back of the muffler and requires a LONG drill. As I saw it opening up the rear baffel plate as I did was sufficent for me. If you look deep inside (and you can see some of that in my post photos), it doesn't seem to be much more to do other than removing the center pipe. If you do that and can get to and remove the rear guts, you have in effect an open can Exhaust much like a Cobra or such.

I am feeling a little thick headed here. The cone that is being talked about is that "trim" piece just inside the pipe then the plate I want to drill will be exposed. I dont have to worry about any shavings staying in the pipe or anything? Will there be any issues with the bike getting to lean or does this just change the sound. Thanks for the help I have read the tech article and just wasnt clicking. Maybe my wife is right.
