One other thing. The stock rear exhaust bracket has a bolt that's got half a can of red Loctite on it. I suggest heating it up with a hair dryer & have a breaker bar handy to break it loose. Mine was a bear to get out. Just don't get it so hot you blister the paint.

TROB just brought up another question. I guess there is a gasket I need to get to put between the engine and new pipes. Where can I get this gasket and what kind. Any takers??

Fel-Pro 23588 These fit fine on all models without trimin'
If you can't find the 23588 get the Fel-Pro 23561... These will require a
little grinding on the outside circumference as they are slightly oversized.

Re:Pipe installation suggestion 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I bought the OEM exhaust pipe gasgets from my Yamaha dealer for $7.19 each when I installed my Speedstar long drag pipes on my '08.
BTW: The rear brake hose runs thru a wire guide that is part of the OEM rear muffler mount. The instructions that I had for my exhaust pipe installation, suggested disconnecting this hose to remove this bracket. I didn't want to bleed the brake fluid after the installation was completed so I used my bolt cutters to cut the brake hose wire guide so this OEM support bracket can be removed without disconnecting this brake hose. The bolts that hold this bracket on the bike were also Loctited. I had to heat them also to remove them.
Caution: The OEM mufflers are quite heavy.

GREAT!!

So, should I set it up on the Dyno and have the air box placed with the stock pipes, or should we place on the pipes on prior to the Dyno?

Do the Dyno after you have put on both pipes and airbox otherwise it's a waste of money. If you Dyno it with just the airbox then it will be out of whack when you put on the pipes.

I would reuse the old gaskets. I just put my exhaust on this bike with 40,000 plus miles and reused the gaskets and don't have any leaks. I would only replace them if you have a leak.

Some are lucky enough to reuse the gaskets, I was not one of them. In fact I reused the stock set and had a some serious back firing. New gaskets were better, but I found that I had to grind the weld off the flange of my Cobra pipes to make sure I got a good seal. They have been on about 25,000 miles now with no leaks. For the small price, I would put new gaskets in.

Re:Pipe installation suggestion 2 Years, 2 Months ago
So got up like it was Christmas morning to put on my new pipes. It took a little bit to find out how to remove what I needed, but went well. Of course, I had to have TROB come out and break the bolts loose. What a nightmare cause they DID NOT want to come off. SO, got everything off and cleaned up all the that usually can not be reached. Then came out the new pipes, I swore I heard music ...I thought they would just bolt back into the frame, but NO...There is a "S" type bracket that should go with the Bub Jugs that mounts a little farther forward. Had to push everything back into the garage and get on the phone with the manufacturer to find out what I need to get...and the wait is on!!

+1. I reused the stock gaskets on both mine and my dad's bike, no problems. Just tightened the exhaust nuts holding the head pipes in while cold, fired up, warmed up, took it for a ride, then retightened while still warm. No problems.

Oh crap,I dawned on me to take a second look in the box. Sure enough the bracket was all wrapped up in newspaper.LMAO!!!
Now, I went through it back in November, but I think I was too focused on the pipes to even notice..Well, back to work...I was really bummed.
