Kawasaki Voyager and Yamaha Venture 2 Years, 2 Months ago
I own a 2008 Royal Star Tour Deluxe, and have looked hard at a Venture, so i kind of know the bike real well. Yesterday my friend received his 2009 Kawasaki Voyager. 1700cc 6 spd, FI, fully dressed monster, the closest bike to compare, or contrast with the Royal Star Venture. At first look the bikes are real close. One big advantage for the Voyager is the FI, the Venture still has carbs. The big advantage for the Venture even thou it is only a 1300cc is the fact it is a four cyl. Over the next few months I hope to ride his bike and have him ride mine and do a comparison and feal out hthe differences. I love the Kawasaki,s and Yamaha,s. My friend still likes Yamahas more than Kawasakis, but for the price he paid for the Voyager, I would have bought one too.

Yeah. It is a sweet lookin' bike. Saw one about a month ago. I guess the only thing I didn't like about it, appearance wise and if I remember it correctly, is the fairing was attached to the frame. I have just never been a fan of the frame attched fairings. Guess we can't have everything in life though.

I have a Venture and I really (REALLY!) like it. In fact, if I had to choose... the Roadie might loose. Maybe.
I've seen the Voyager on a showroom floor and, to me, it looked like you would have to be gentle with it. The lid on the right bag was already broken. The only other big issue that I've heard about was that if you start smelling a steak grilling... it's probably your right thigh.

Much as I like the Vulcans, I don't care for the Voyager's fairing. Looks a bit too busy for me, but hey...that's just me...

I sold my venture about 9-months back, it was a real nice bike realy road great,fi or not if you keep that bike tuned and carbs sincrinized, they run great forever. If you like that style cant beat em, good luck

Rider magazine did a shootout between the Voyager, Venture, Vision and harley.
Harley came in 1st venture # 2, they didn't like the Voyager much too heavy and buzzy
when riding. They loved the Vision but dropped points because it was butt ugly. Of
course you have to be objective with mag. comparisons.
Said if you want to travel on the highway pay a bit more and get the Golwing. Only thing
about the Wing is it's like being in the cockpit of the space shuttle.

I think it's a bit strange that the Harleys always come in first no matter who is comparing or to what. Is anyone else thinking that? We all know here that Harleys are damned good bikes, but, come on now, they can't always be the best can they? JMHObservation.

Re:Kawasaki Voyager and Yamaha Venture 2 Years, 2 Months ago
They actually said the Vision would have been 1st but the looks were so
bad they dropped it to 3rd. The Venture is esentially a 99 that was never
updated. The Harley has a new frame FI and isn't bad. I think sometimes
the bashing we sometimes get from Harley riders causes us to overlook that
HD has updated their bikes. I wish Yamaha would invest some time in the Venture,
they just seem so focused on the sport bike market that they forget about the
cruiser lines accept for a few panel changes etcetera. It would be nice to see
an 85 HP FI roadie with a large capacity stator and an injected, updated Venture.
