Will it cause damage? 2 Years, 1 Month ago
I have just placed on my new pipes (Bub Jugs) and still awaiting to have the air box kit installed and the carb jetted. Would it damage anything on the bike to run it with the stock air box? I want to take it on a test ride to check the piped but don't want to damage anything.

Won't hurt a thing... in fact just changing pipes doesn't require any changes in the carb... maybe a slight tweek of the PMS.

you might need to richen the pilot screw on the carb as well as remove the AIS. The AIS it tuned for the stock pipes which are more restrictive than after market, and will cause it to seem like a lean condition, excessive popping, and maybe even flames coming out the pipes. Happened with a friends bike we put pipes and air kit and jetted, even getting the carb set-up properly, when he took off, extreme popping and flames, next day removed the AIS, all back to normal, and he didn't need to touch anything else.

Not at all. There are instructions with pictures in the tech articles.

When you remove the AIS, don't put your tools away just yet. While you are at it, might as well relocate or remove the fuel pump as well. Really opens up the engine!
