My first Drag Race 6 Years, 10 Months ago
Although I was never big on car or bike races, I went along with a few friends, to the local quarter mile strip on Sunday for a bike dealer's sponsored day. When we got there, they convinced me I should put my Roadstar in. I was really apprehensive about the whole thing, but at the same time, most of the guys there had never done this and I was curious as to how I would do and what kind of number my bike would put out.

I managed to get my reaction time around .550 seconds and posted my best run at 14.067 seconds which was .077 seconds over my dial-in time. Top speed around the 92mph mark.

I think I could've avoided some slipping off the line should I had warmed up the rear tired in the usual way, but I chose to keep my tire in decent shape for the remainder of riding season instead.

My bike: 2001 Roadstar
- self ported manifold
- Maxflo air kit
- HK 2 into 1 Xccelerators
- 31 tooth front pulley
- Dyna3000 34A/5000

I didn't do these mods for racing purposes, but simply so I could feel a little more response in my day to day riding. I'm quite happy with the results. I wouldn't be racing every weekend, but am really glad I got to experience it first hand and am looking forward to going back next year and surprise even more sport bike riders. I also managed to capture the races on video which makes for a nice souvenir.

So for those of you in the know, are my numbers respectable? Are they what you would've expected with those mods? Not a big deal, but I'm just curious.

Thanks,

Not bad.

14/15 sounds typical for your setup. You could certainly get it to around 13+ with a better reaction time and 'screw' the rear time attitude.

I've seen numbers like 12.5 sec but don't know the setup. Bulldog (Barons) ran 9.86 sec/138 MPH.

I haven't been to the track but me and B done little on the street. So as not to embarrass him I won't say who won. We did have trouble with a hot Firebird.
