So cool about America, whatever flips your switch. I already said what I had to say. I'm not on a bike tire and won't ever be again wherever I can be Darkside.

I'm running the same as Ms1700 have a buddy also running CT on a 1800 Vtx . I have rode behind both bikes and the contact patch is never like the video Road hawg showed. My guess would be that video is of a new install and there is a process of brake in. I agree with MS on this won't go back the ride is great. What ever trips your trigger or makes you go zoom. If your up for reading there is a lot of info at the link.

I went back and looked at the Videos because of your post Makcap, The 1st one, obviously he got excited and put about 15 lbs too much air in it. Shoulda waited the 500 miles before a video.

The second, appears to look like he wiped out, and so the title may mislead you, but if you watch all of it it was the camera falling off the bike, and he comes back to get it after someone picked it up. And that is on a 2300 CC sport bike, no one suggest using a CT on a sport bike, but that dude was just proving it wrong and showing it can be done.
This is the real video of the Supercharged Triumph Rocket 3 on the darkside.

Not looking like he's lost any traction.

After running darkside this long, I have not got onto a sidewall ever. The radial flexes and always at least a quarter of the tire is on the road. (This is with proper inflation me @ 35 psi.)

Also running this long, I no longer suggest it, too many dealers are closing and tire guys losing work over it. Plus, it's only really beneficial to riders who ride a lot. Putting a tire on that will last 30 to 40K miles is senseless if your only riding 2 to 5K a year.

You have to want to do it, have a lot of riding experience, and have gonads as big as your bike's. So we are talking less than 1/10 of 1% by my estimate with top of my head figures from the Darkside forum.

When TOPNOTCH 1st mention it here, I was intrigued by it. The more tires I burned through, the better it looked, Now that I am Darkside, I ain't looking back.

No one else go Darkside!

If you do, it takes LOTS of study @
1st Check this dude out, maybe you read his books he wrote, on Darkside tires! IMHO he's only REAL rider, this dude is badazz! http://lifeisaroad.com/stories/2004/10/27/theDarkSide.html

It's something you have to do yourself, not a place to be a copy cat. you have to know what your doing, how to do it and what to expect.

It isn't for the meek. If you freak out when your floorboards scrape, or you try to stand your bike up in the middle of a curve and ride over the line, Don't even consider it. It's an elite fleet!

Who all's in the Elite Fleet? On the Darkside????

This may be way late and not mean much to the original poster but, for anyone else reading this, I put Metzler ME 880's on my Roadie last year and it literally turned it into a new bike! The Dunlops that were on in were moderately worn and followed every crack or tar repair line on the road. It felt like my arse was dancing back and forth constantly. Installed the new Metzler's and it is just amazing. The bike rides, tracks, and corners better than ever by far. So, while I don't have a lot of experience with other brands, I can vouch for the Metzler's and the price seemed pretty reasonable. I love 'em and would put them on again without hesitation.

I'm also looking at Metz's, I'm curious if they are still having those "Brazil" tire issues? Also my Dad put me880's on his Goldwing and is having a lot of issues with cupping. Anyone here have any issues with their's?

I talked to a guy at Cycle Gear this week, and according to him, they closed the plant in Brazil because of quality issues. He said they are all are made in Germany now.

Just put a set of Kenda Kruz on mine for a total of $223 mounted and balanced... I have absolutely no complaint with them whatsoever. A tremendous value, if you ask me!

Being as I am broke and unemployed I picked up a set of Kenda Kruz tires from ebay. both tires were only 143 delivered to my door. I used 2oz of dyna beads in each tire and everything is sooo smooth now.
The tires are not from china so there is hope for them
at least I am still on the road, so it works for me right now anyway
