It's like having TWO bikes in the stable, totally changes the whole look of the bike.
Baja, you have a great looking bike, VERY NICE!!

Any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction: I SERVED IN THE UNITED STATES NAVY. John F. Kennedy Aug. 1963

Real men don't use windshields.
This is my first bit with one. I never use mine around town but as I 'age' I'm finding that I'll slip it on when riding a long distance on the highway. Also bought a sport one for use around town when the temps are near freezing.

Bucks Lowers?? What are they and how can I get some? I see lots of HD lowers on ebay will they fit the Roadie?
Buck's Lowers
The HD lowers for the Road King will fit, but they don't give nearly the protection of the Buck's.

Growing up around bikes and my dad having a lot of full dresser HD's I swore I would never have a windshield (or a cruiser for that matter). I used to tease him about his "old man" bike with the bags and windshield while I always had a GSX-R with a double bubble on it that I could duck under while on the highway. When I bought my first cruiser he laughed and asked where my windshield was. I swore I would never! Well about 4 years ago I moved from South Florida to South Carolina and the cold temps made me start thinking about one. I had ridden north of here before but it was always in the summer months. Needless to say I ended up with one on my last Harley (Road King) and now I just recently put one on the Roadie. Maybe I'm getting old, maybe I am not so concerned about how cool I look anymore, or maybe the fact that it makes the ride more enjoyable I am just getting smarter. Like a few of you said it only goes on when either the temps are low or I know I will be on the highway. Around town under 50 MPH I still like the wind in my face. Although I caught a bug in the chin yesterday that stung like a bitch and I was wishing the shield was on there.

These are the old style Buck's, made for bikes without crash bars.

Fireman, I like those. When you say old style do the new one's look the same? I don't have a crash bar either. I bet those would make a big difference. That is the only place I get a blast of air now - from the bottom. It says in the description that they are just held in with the 2 bolts under the light. Are they simple to get on and off if I wanted the stripped down look? - Sorry to hijack this thread!

My wife was just teasing me about the windshield, I told her I couldn't wait for it to warm up and take it off. She told me I just wanted it off so I could look cool. My answer was - the bike has a totally different feel without the windshield, I feel more at one with the road then I do having that big piece of plastic in front of me. The world looks so much clearer. Highway trips = windshield is a must. Tooling around the country roads = no windshield. Right now it is still mid to high 30's here when I leave for work in the mornings and the 30 mile ride to work is just to cold to take it off.
