Head light modulator is a good thing, but situational awareness is also vital. If you have not seen this site from the MSF give it a try.

Cruiserbob,
You are spot on! Many of these crashes could be avoided though by the motorcycle rider if the rider was more attentive to the immenent hazards that lay ahead and reacted accordingly. We HAVE to assume that today's car/truck drivers will do something that is either very dumb or inconsiderate ["Me first syndrom!"].

I just installed both brake and headlight modulators this month. Every little bit helps....

I have the kisan headlight modulator and you can see the difference in the actions of the cagers. I never let my gaurd down but you can tell that they see you. I also have a L.E.D brakelight that flashes. Can't put a price on my safety. Probably one of the best and easiest mods I've done.

A motorcyclist was killed here last week. A oncoming cager apparently turned in front of him.
I almost got nailed twice in two weeks. Monday a big Ford pickup decided to pull make a left turn into my lane from a parking lot on my left side right in front of the Fire/First Aid station. I was going at a leisurely pace - could have reached out and touched his right front fender.
It happened so fast, I couldn't apply the front brake and squealed the rear tire. I was just thankful we didn't *meet* formally.
I just read on the Allstate website that riders with WHITE helmets and/or bright color clothing get into less accidents!

Well, my Dad always told me to watch everything when I ride. Ride that bike like everything is out to get you. That has saved my but on several different occasions. Although in 2004 I just stopped at a stop sign to wait for a car to pass before I went. I looked in my rear view mirror and be before I could even think "OH S**t" I was hit in the rear end. It threw me over the handle bars and into the road. All I could think of was that car that was coming might hit me, I jumped out of the road instanly "All I could remember was how my Dad use to say " boy if you lay it down jump up and keep going" Only problem was my bike was totalled. Still to this day I don't know how I wasn't ran over by the other car I was waiting to pass so I could go. The girl that hit me in my rear end said "I am sorry, but I thought you were going to keep going" Sorry but I don't make it a habit to run stop signs. I called my wife told her what happened. Of course she freaked out I told her was alright and reassured her I was getting another bike. She said "I know". Still makes me laugh to think I was just hit and told her I was getting a new bike. It didn't suprise her any. I have been riding my whole life and when people tell me it is too dangerous and I could die. I always reply "at least I will die happy". But you better belive every time I come to a stop now I watch the car behind me constitly.
