Ever had your rear master cylinder cap come off? 2 Years, 1 Month ago
Took it out for a ride yesterday, luckily my girlfriend was trailing behind me. When we parked she mentioned she thought she saw something fly off the bike down the highway...I thought it was just something on the road I clipped...but no, checking over the bike...it was my master cylinder cap and diaphragm. Not sure how that happened thought I'd call the local Yami dealer...they would have to order it in from Japan! ...na...decided to go fishing through the ditch...turned up lucky after about 5 min we found it...cleaned it off, flushed the line with new fluid and am back on the road....so...has anyone else had that happen?? Vibes from the engine knock it loose???

Got me... I've never heard of that happening. I have put on quite a few vibrating and rough road miles on my bike, including potholes and washboard gravel, still have mine. Strange! Lucky you for finding it, and in decent enough shape to be used!

Yes. Lost one on a 2001 I used to own.

I replaced it with a Baron's billet reservoir. Lost the cap on that one once too. But found it in some grass by the road fairly undamaged and put it back on. Those both got lost in 2003. Hasn't happened since.

Hey where you from? I'm in Sherwood Park...this happened on the Whitemud heading East into the park just after the overpass for the Henday...yes, luckily it just bounced off the road into the grass on the side...
suppose it's possible it just wasn't tightened down, 'course I just bought the bike a couple months ago and never touched the cap. Oh well...got it back, alls good

There should be a metal cover over the cap held on buy a bolt. It bolts the master cylinder to the frame is it gone? If it is I have a OEM one I think if you need one it is just painted black not chrome.

mine came off last fall 150 miles from home, pulled in for gas and noticed fluid on pipe, plastic inner boot was still there laying between exhaust pipe and frame, plumber in gas station fixed me up with a plastic pvc cap held on tightly with a condom and duct tape, until I got to a dealership and they sold me one off rs on sales floor,I always try to check on a regular basis now.

That is a good road fix. I believe it is not a coincidence that some times certain people are in the tight place at the right time to help someone else out. I like to hear of engineering on the road. Good example of ingenuity.

Mine has the metal cover, too. I wonder when they added that. Most of the responses seem to indicate it hasn't always been there. Glad you got her going again.

when I added after market chrome,it didnt have braket to screw to. I still had bottom wrap around crome peice bot had black plastic cap,so I founf harley steering head cap at swap meet for $3.00 sanded the inside down about 1/8" with course sandpaper and it looks better on there than the old barrons chrome cap
