A new R*, almost 2 Years ago
A month ago i got my 00 silverado all buttoned up and ready to ride. I had tore the entire bike down over the winter months a i was medically banned from riding.

I then posted that she was bogging down. I would give her a go at the throttle and she always reached a limit and then acted as if there were no more spark.I was mad. It looked like my ride for the summer was going to be one of my other bikes. Folks responded with everything from being to rich to hitting the rev limiter. Then yesterday, i went to pass and had a huge pucker moment as i came face to face with on coming traffic and suddenly had now power.

I went out to dinner and had a few drinks so there was no evening riding in my nights plan. So, I decided to change the oil and go back to a heavier synth oil. That actually made the loud valve sound go away and also fixed a leak I didn't want to deal with. So, i looked at the spreadsheet the original owner kept regarding absolutely every penny he had spent on the bike. I noted that he had put the K&N filter on at 10k miles. I bought it with 20k on it and I am at 56k now. I did not see him every buying a cleaning kit for the filter. I just happened to have one as all my bikes and cars have the K&N filter. So i cleaned it, let it dry overnight and oiled it this morning. After an hours wait, i put the filter back on and headed for the open road. At my first intersection i opened her up to beat a merging lane i was in. It almost tore the shoulders out of their sockets. I could not believe it. I was actually having power very close to my Valk.

In the end, i fixed the oil leak and got my mojo back into the engine. Needless to say i was cruising all morning. I have just dropped back home to get my gloves, write this and head out again.

Safe riding folks.

OK If you insist. I will put a hundred miles on her after dinner. I have noted that my MPG of 38 last year has gone to 48-51 so i think i can afford to ride ride and do some more riding

I also have access to all of the maintenance work performed on my '02 from the original owner, only bad part was I am the third owner, the PO never kept any records of maintenance. Fortunately, he only had it less then a year, only put 3500 miles on it.

Nice ride and congratulations.

There in itself is a lesson for the wise, especially if you buy new. I have kept every receipt from every purchase i have made with all my autos. I check the gas millage through three tanks and record it after an oil change and do silly little notes to my self in a small diary THAT I KEEP ON EACH VEHICLE. in fact, had it not been for the great records I would not have purchased her. I am glad i did.
