Question for the spoke wheel gurus! 2 Years ago
I'm sure it's been done, but has anyone chromed the stock hubs and sent them to a wheel builder and had them wired to a 18" or 21" rim?

I've replaced just about everything on this bike but the wheels. Looking for a cheaper alternative than $1000 a wheel.

H-D wheels are the way to go if you want to stick with spokes and keep the price down. Our R*s use an odd-ball 42 spoke count, so any outer rim will have to be special made and that drives the cost way up. You can get chromed 60-spoke H-D wheels for less than $200/ea and figure around $150/ea for the conversion axles/spacers from Don at L&D Custom Bike Wurks

BTW, don't plan on a 3-3.25" wide 21" front wheel if you want white wall tires. No one makes a 120/70-21 tire with a whitewall yet.

i did find a place after the fact, but what i did was get a 3.00 front 21" so i could put a 120/70 on if i found later

Here's a company that will replace the wheels with one's with chrome hubs and new chrome spokes for around $952.00 for both. http://www.pacificcoaststar.com/pcs/road_star_rim_exchange.htm

Now thats what I wanted to hear, but what about the pulley and rotors? Do I need to replace those too? I want to stay with those stock components if possible.
