Fairings Plastic or Fiberglass 1 Year, 12 Months ago
Well I still believe this site is contagious, I got the fever for a fairing with stereo. My question is Plastic or Fiberglass ? Is the quality of the plastic like the one from Wide Open Customs as good as the Fiberglass one from Hoppe Industries. Is the plastic holding up to miles on the road with vibration ect. is it flimsy or solid. I know there is a big cost difference between the two but I am interested in the quality and pros and cons of either. I have a Polaris Ranger that takes a beatin on a regular basis and its entire body is plastic and has never had a crack in it.

Check out what the Harley fairings are made of. That should be a good indication.
Fiberglass is good but may be heavier and not all plastics are equal. ABS is very strong.

Remember though, you usually get what you pay for.

I had the WOC plastic fairing on mine and we put one on my brother in laws bike also. I had no problems with it at all. We did have a member with a WOC that cracked at the mounting brackets but they fixed it for him. The only complaint I had was the windshield that comes with them is jink. I modified a Clearview to fit it and problem solved. Good luck and enjoy which ever way you go.

Fiberglass is repairable, ABS is not.
