MISFIRE 4 Years, 12 Months ago
Hi Guys

I have a 2005 R* 1800 miles, BAK and Cobra Speedsters, carb at 170 2 1/2 turns 4th clip

this morning while warming up I noticed a very light amount ok smoke coming out the exhaust every so often

So I placed my hands over the ends of the pipes and one was poping fine and the other wasn't

turned off the choke she died and it took a few times to restart

once started reveved a couple of times turned off choke and everything seemed fine

Fouled plugs already or maybe something else

Thanks

Could be fouled plugs, bad electrical (wires or plug) or the start of a sticky valve.

If it happens again then take a kleenex and place it at the end of the pipe. If it gets sucked into the pipe then it's SVS.

You can temporarily unstick the valve by using a top end cleaner like Ring Free, Seafoam, Marvel Mystery Oil, etc.

My '05 had the same problem. I prefer LUCAS upper cyl. lube and fuel treatment, though all the stuff listed previous works fine. The dealer here denied that it was svs (no surprise there), but I still have my suspitions.

Arcturus what ever you put in take it out to the big road and get her
up to 65 or 70 in fourth gear. leave it in fourth and run it for a good distance
at the higher rev's. that will help burn the gunk off the valves. After you run the tank down to empty you will probably have to change the oil.Only put in 4qts.
hope this helps.
