well then it seems we may have found the problem I hope when in neutral or in gear I read an open circuit
and if this is the case as far as the bike knows it is always in gear and there fore will not start is this correct or a really big assumtion

well when you use that as#....... word what usually happens,
got a closed circuit between ground and the screw at the switch location when in neutral.....back to the drawing board

Hey Pupman welcome. Have you checked your battery to make sure it's fully charged?
Just a thought. Have you checked the starter relay or starter.Ok that's my 2 cents Hope you find it soon.

Well I bet all you boys and girls were waiting with baited breath for the results. Well here they are...problem was caused by the "relay unit" going bad. If you look at the schematics all roads lead to it. New one finally came and lo and behold she starts like a new one. An observation-- or a thought-- the neutral light would come on AFTER the bike got real warm, the relay could of been opening up when it got warm and after the bike cooled off was okay and would start and me none the wiser about the up and coming problem. When it finally went open (the relay) bike would not start. The flying fickel finger of fate was pointing the way the whole time but I was't looking. I don't know it the two are/were related but it seems they could be. Maybe this info could help someone get back on the road sooner......................
