Engine/Performance Blueprint Thread? 1 Year, 11 Months ago
This is just something I've found to be non-existent on all of the various R* forums and thought it would be worth starting here at the RSC as a sticky.

Basically what I'd like to see is a "blueprint" of sorts regarding what performance mods people have done to their bikes and (if available) proven horsepower numbers via a dyno sheet. Mind you I'm not talking little things like changing the air cleaner or exhaust, but rather more intensive internal work like HC pistons, big-bore kit, head porting, cams, bigger carb, etc.

Sure the HP numbers will vary from dyno to dyno, different atmostpheric conditions and different jetting, but with enough data compiled from similar setups it would give everyone a good idea of what kind of power to expect from a given combo.

Basic info should include, but isn't limited to:

Displacement (98ci, 102ci, 108ci, 110ci, etc.)
If running a big-bore kit, what brand?
Piston Brand (JE, Wiesco, Yamaha, etc.)
Compression Ratio
Cams (stock or aftermarket/brand)
Head work (porting, stock or larger valves, who did the work, etc)
Ignition (include settings)
Intake (stock, stock ported, aftermarket ported/brand)
Carb (stock, HSR42, HSR 45, other)
If fuel-injected, who did the custom programming?
Jetting (main, pilot, needle & clip position, etc.)
Air Cleaner (brand/type)
Exhaust (brand/type, baffled or open)
Front Pulley (31T, 32T or 33T)

Last but not least, if you've done dyno runs list the peak HP and torque at their respective RPM and the HP/TQ numbers at 2500rpm (average highway cruise rpm)

For those of us who have transcended the "which-end-of-the-wrench" (not me) stage and who are seriously into more beef between their legs I'd say it's a good idea. It'll give all R* owners and mechanics who want to go up a level or two a starting point. Hope you get enough feedback.
