Well I did it, that thing that stops us all with bad planning, dead in our tracks......... yea, I lost my one and only key..... Well I was goin'a get around to it.... same as all of us with just one key, but, well I got 'tagged'. I had to take the bike apart and get the ignition lock off.....a task in itself. Drilling out the break-away bolts securing it, I finally got it off. But I'd suggest first tapping with a pointed drift and working it round to unscrew the bolts. It was pretty easy really, but as I say I wish I'd tryed working on the bolts with a drift as they really were'nt really that tight. But how was I to know.... Anyway, I took the lock-set and tank down to the local locksmith and left everything with him. His shop was like none other that I'd seen, though I seldom frequent locksmiths....lol. 35 bucks later and half a days time, he gave me a call, 'hay Rich, come and get it'. Well it was pretty uneventfull, but he also gave me the code for my specific key cuts to put in my lockbox at home. Yepper, I'v now got two keys for 'everything' plus cut codes to boot..... You remember what Red Forman used to say on 'That Seventys Show' ......yup.......DUMBASS........I deserved that...

When I got my R* it was used and only had one key. I immediately took it to the locksmith and had two new ones made, one for home and one I keep in my wallet. Thankfully I haven't needed to use the spares yet.

Mine only came with one key and I quickly found the blanks on e-Vil Bay (2/$6.00) and took them to my local Ace Hardware. They cut both of them for free..... John Scribner

I just sawed off the whole ignition assembly!!! I do have two keys for the new one down in the right side cover. Failing that I can just pull the cover and touch wires eh?
