I like how the fuel injected Harleys are programmed to only fire the rear cylinder every other time when it gets hot. I think it's done by cutting the injector pulse to every other intake stroke.

Seems like Yamaha could do something like that too on their injected bikes.

There are a lot Harleys running around out there with a whole bunch of miles on them but like the Road Star anything man made can fail. I think they make a very good product.

only when at idle. As soon as you apply power the rear starts firing again. It is all done electronically and you turn it off and on by twisting the throttle forward while at a stop and holding it there. It activates when the heads reach a predetermined temp. I have it and find it to be more "hype" than actual cooling relief. But in stop and go traffic it does offer some help.

I guess they figured that when power is applied the bike was going to start moving. A friend with a Road King said it helps keep his thigh a little cooler in stop & go traffic.

Thanks for the info, I didn't know all the specifics about how it worked.
