Dismounting, Leftside or Rightside? 1 Year, 10 Months ago
This might sound like a "Dumb Question" but I normally exit the bike on the "Kickstand" side of the bike, but I've noticed lately a lot of people who exit the opposite side. What side do you exit the bike?

I vault over the windshield or sissy bar. Kickstand side of course I'm short.

Well I have issues with burning my leg, so I dismount on the left side.

I get off the same way as Curt, over the bars. Or the kickstand side.

The only benefit I've seen with getting off the opposite side is if you turn the handlebars to the left, it can "Getchya" if your not careful.

Always kickstand side. On our bike that also keeps you away from the pipes. Trust those of us with missing hide from pipes that it's a bad idea dismounting the side they are on.
By the way, kickstands are fairly universal left side as are the foot levers for centerstands.
Personally I like my bike leaning WAY over to the left. I run in to far too many spots where if it doesn't lean a lot it will fall over when parked, or close to it.

I always get off on the kickstand side.
Never thought of the otherside.
Would just seem weird to me.

Ok I'm going to be the odd ball here. It's a 50/50 deal. When I rode the 2000 before it was converted to a trike it has true duals and the rear exhaust pipe is right there on your left leg. In fact so close that when you back the bike up your leg can hit the pipe. So I would exit off to the right as the front pipe was further away from my leg. Also my harley has duals and again I find alot of the time unconsciously I exit the right. When I had kick start bikes it was very common to get off on the right as you would jump on from that side after starting the bike.
Never gave it thought till you brought it up though!
