It's just one of those things that make you go HUH? It's a fun question, and honestly, one most people really don't think too much about, we "Just Do It". But I have to say, I'm loving the response!

Wow got to this party late!!! I find that I generally mount and dismount from the right side. I do not know why it is just the way I do it. I do at least occasionally mount from the left, but somehow feel better leaing into the kick stand when I get on and off than leaning into the bike perhaps lifting it from the stand going to the left. It may have come from the old days when my 750 Honda had a long stand and the bike sat almost straight up and it would fall to the right if I dismounted to the left without extreme caution.

If you are of a shorter stature, as I am (5'8", you run the risk of burning your leg by dismounting right, at the very least you'll prolly pull a hammy!. Therefore it is an automatic "exit bike left". However, I can see where if you have long legs it probably depends on weather you intend on going to the left or right once you're off the bike. I have burned my leg more than once trying to exit right due to tight bike parking, I just can't do it well I'm right handed BTW, but I don't think thats got anything to do with it.

I was always told and have always (unless up against a wall or something) mount and dismount from left side.

I see other riders get on or off right side and it just looks funny to me. Always go to left ( kind of like my answer to my tailor )

Always left, the few time I went right it felt like I walked under a latter or kicked a black cat

Maybe it's like men wearing earrings......Left is Right, and Right is Wrong
Personally, I have always gone "left"...I think it's because the bike is already leaning that way when you put the kickstand down and it's only natural not to fight it.

Good question!! Beats the heck out of us arguing about brands, dumb riders, dumb cops, politics, etc.

Maybe cause I lock my bars when I jump off the bike putting the
grip and mirror in junk killer position.

I do EXACTLY the same.
