Question on spark plugs 1 Year, 10 Months ago
For those who say there are no stupid questions... Get ready!

I was looking at all the routine maintenance for my 2009 Roadstar just to get an understanding of what I will need to do and when it comes to spark plugs I have some confusion.

I am reading out on the interweb that we have 2 spark plugs per cylinder, is this correct? I haven't pulled them yet but it looked to me like I have only wire going to each cylinder. Also when looking in the owner's manual I see they recommend iridium for replacement spark plugs. Does this mean it came with iridium's?

I am thinking that kinda sucks because if they did I will see no improvement from going to iridium. Yeah yeah, it already runs incredibly and I have NO complaints. still...

Thanks, folks.

pull the tank off ...really easy...youll see there are 4 plugs, 2 per cylnder
use irridium plugs and youll be happy you did
when the tank is off its a great time to clean off the dust that gets caught up there

I've had two 01s an 03 and a 05 and none came with iridium plugs. The newer may but I couldn't tell you for sure. All I do know is that my 05 runs much better since the switch.

Seriously doubt it came with iridium's but they are worth it. Add Dyna coils and that thing will really light off!

Pull a spark plug wire off one you can see and get the number off of it and we can tell you if it is iridium or not. If it isn't then when you change them go to iridium they are much better. Funny it too Yamaha long enought to recognize that fact after a ton of us already did it. We are on the cutting edge on here.

I yanked a wire and found that my 2009 Roadie came with Denso iridium plugs, part #X22EPR

Another mod I can't do. BAH!

Thanks folks.

Oh and not that it was a surprise to y'all but yes there are two plugs per cylinder. *smacks forehead*
