Brake noise 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I switched to ebc HH rear brake pads a few months back and am hearing noise like sandpaper against the rotor when braking. I finally took it apart and checked it out last night. Pads and everything looked good. Just cleaned everything and put back together. Is it normal for these pads to make more noise than the organic pads?

The HH pads are metalic so when you use them it is rubbing metal against metal and makes noise. I am sure that you know thast the wood that cheap cabinets are made of is the sweepings off of the woodshop floor glued and pressed together to make a solid "board". The HH pads are made of what is called sintered metal and it is the metalic equivalent of cabinet wood.

They're noisier all right and can take heat better but they sure are hard on the rotors. My standard pads will lock up the rear wheel and probably the front if I pressed hard enough.

Thanks. Sounds like what i'm hearing is normal noise. Braking has improved, but i can tell the rotors are wearing more than the front with the organic.

I am also running EBCs on the rear and they do make a racket. I have tested them out on a few occasions and damn glad I have them on there.
