Hmmmm, favorite places to ride??? Good question. So many roads, so little time!!!

Locally, I'd have to say Mo. State Hwy. 94 from Weldon Spring, Mo. to Hwy 19 in Hermann, Mo. Locally this is known as "wine country" and Hwy 94 made Reader's Digests list of Most Scenic Drives. There are plenty of other great roads locally, but I probably do this more than any other.

To expand on the "locally" part, Hwy 19 south (from Hermann) all the way to the Arkansas state line is probably my favorite road to ride. Well maintained 2 lane with lots of twisties!!! And beautiful scenery to boot!! Goes through the Ozark National Scenic Riverways region, which is awesome, and through sections of the Mark Twain National Forrest. Which ain't bad either.

I probably shouldn't mention it since I don't remember hwy #s, etc... and I'm too lazy to look them up, but all across the northern part of Arkansas from Mtn. Home, thru the Bull Shoals area, tracing the Buffalo River over to Eureka Springs is also very nice.

The Mother Road/Old Rte 66. While traveling to SE Kansas to visit my mom and brother I like to get off the interstate (I44) as much as possible. That's when I look for sections of the old highway. Pretty interesting to think of travel back when that was the main east-west highway. Have also been on sections of Rte 66 in Ill., Kansas and Oklahoma.

On a larger scale, further from home, I'd have to say Spearfish Canyon and Iron Mtn. Road in the Black Hills of S.D. are some of the "not to miss" roads I've been on. Really anywhere in the Black Hills is pretty amazing. Also the Smoky Mtn. National Park and surrounding area is very nice.

Maybe I shouldn't include these since I haven't ridden them yet, but on our upcoming trip (we leave in 17 days!!!) we'll be riding to Yellowstone. Along the way, while in Cody, Wy. we'll do a day-ride on the Beartooth and Chief Joseph Scenic Hwys, which look like they are going to be unbelievable rides. We'll also be doing a day-ride through the Gand Teton National Park into Jackson, Wy., into Idaho to see Mesa Falls and back to Yellowstone. And time (and weather) permitting, on the way home we're planning on riding through the Rocky Mtn. National Park. Should be an awesome trip!!!

I know I'm leaving out a bunch of other very nice roads/rides, but this is already longer than I'd intended, so I'll wrap it up here. Like I said; so many roads, so little time!!

Aaron

Any day with the sun in my eyes and the wind in my face is a good day, but here are some of my favorites.
-- Anywhere on the blue ridge parkway in nc or va
-- Headed west out of Estes Park, CO into rocky mtn natl. park
-- Headed east out of Glenwood Springs, CO a mere 20 miles followed by a 2 mile hike up to Hanging Lake, a crystal clear lake you can accually see the bottom of.

RIDE IT LIKE YOU STOLE IT

I enjoy riding and it doesn't really matter as long as the weather is good my road* is rumbling along. I have ridden the dragon and the blue ridge parkway, and Over Fort mountain several times.I ride alot to Alabama to Lake Weiss, all back farm roads, to camp and Visit my parents. I have recently joined Southern Cruisers and look forward to doing alot more riding to different areas. But nothing beats sitting around after a good days ride having a few suds with others.. Bikers tell the biggest tales you know,,,,

lets see... gas station, grocery store, any time I can get on it. But on a serious note Cherohala Skyway, Deals Gap, Suches Gap, south to Warm Springs, GA, Cheaha Mountain, AL. Any place with little or no traffic, good weather, and great roads!

I too love Cheaha(catch it off 78 , about 70 minutes from the house), but hate alabamas gravel trick they use to I assume slow the bikes down. Is it fair for me to assume that you've camped at TWO? If not, try it!BB

Just about any road I’ve not been down before. I got the habit of randomly riding down unknown roads while stationed in Japan. I was out for a ride after polishing the bike one weekend and happened upon a lake in the hills above Sasebo. There was a high stone dam with a small farm below it. http://home.comcast.net/~winjerd/Images/SotoDam2.jpg The place was heavily wooded and isolated so I went for a skinny dip. After my swim I explored around and came upon a monument memorializing prisoners of war at Soto Dam. The POWs were from Fukuoka Camp #18, located about a quarter mile above the dam construction site. In the mere 6 months this camp was in operation, some 65 POWs lost their lives during the construction of the dam. http://home.comcast.net/~winjerd/Images/SotoDam4.jpg
The run from Sasebo to Nagasaki over the pink bridge was always a favorite for me. The pass over the mountains in Idaho along the clear water river is another one. The hills in Western Georgia I fell in love with last year when I went to TWO for a camp trip. I enjoyed the Dragon in NC and that twisty road out of Mountain City into Shady Valley. Each road has its appeal; some more than others. I’m still finding new ones so I figure my favorite road is the next one I’ve never been down before.

Post edited by: JMayton, at: 2007/06/13 05:54

Nice pics.

Folks should also check out #1 and 3. No, they aren't pics of him skinny-dipping.

What happened to the parts for sale on your website?

Regards, Ted

I am so sorry!
We had our daughter graduate this weekend and it has been totally crazy
Please forgive us, we will have everything straight this week....

No need to apologize I have been considering one of the items and I went to check them for the 100th time and the For Sale aspect was gone...figured they were all sold or it was too much of a hassle

Regards, Ted
