How much $$ to change the rear tire?? 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I have a new rear tire that came with my bike. The stealer wants $100 to change it out for me. Any idea if that's reasonable? Considering I don't have a lift I don't know what choice I have. I'm going to use Dyna Beads I think.

I just had both my front and rear tire changed at the dealer. He told me upfront that the book rate is 1.1 hours to change them both. Shop rate here is $88/hr so I got both tires done for essentially $100 before tax. I really like this dealer, because even when I went to pick it up, he informed me it took over 1 1/2 hours to do them both, but he only charged me what he told me it should have taken.

if your handy its not hard to change a tire, look up how to change a tire on you tube. if its going to cost 100 dollars you can buy a jack and tire spoons for that and still have money left over also instead of spending big bucks on balance beads go to walmart and buy a container of the plastic air gun bb's and use about 3 1/2 oz's per tire

In my area independent shops get $50.00 to $100.00 to change both if not purchased from them. The local dealer refuses to change the tire unless you buy it from him. Jade how long have you run the airsoft BB's and how are they different from the Dyna Beads? Great idea!! Not sure what the Dyna Beads look like anyway?

tires are such a funny thing because they are really not very difficult to change, but still a pain in the arse...if you have a few friends with bikes you could maybe go in together on a tire changer for a couple hundred bux, otherwise theres lots of people online with pictures of how to make a cheap tire changer out of an old car rim

i can tell you where i work we have a big coats tire changer, but we dont use it for anything besides locking the rim down while we use the spoons since we do so many tube tires

I change my own tires but when I didn't one of the local tire shops did mine for $15 each. I use Dyna Beads and have for the last four years, they are ceramic beads of varying sizes and none of them are anywhere as big as a BB they are very small. The Dyna Beads work very well.

I took my tire and rim into the dealer to have it changed and it was 35 b ucks. I put dyna beads in myself. Not a bad deal really.

If you lived near me the cost would be zero. I have the Harbor Freight tire changer, well worth the money. It has payed for itself many times over.

Locally I can get a tire changed for $20 if purchased from the installer, and $30 if not purchased. That includes balancing. Of course you have to bring in the wheel or they charge you to remove and replace the wheel. Personally $100 is pretty stiff. Total time for me to remove and replace the rear wheel is about 30 minutes if I really take my time. With some practice I could have it off in under 10 and on in about the same. I hour and 6 minutes to R/R a wheel includes coffee breaks and lunch.
