Follow Up 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Holly Molly Guys, Just a followup on comparing my 2007 RS Midnight that I sold in March 2010 to the 2010 Fat Bob that I test drove at the end of July 2010. The last three MCs that I have owned have been Yamaha's. So I am obviously enamoured with the brand. I really hated to sell my RS this spring, it was really a great bike. BUT, although my observations and comments between the RS and the Fat Bob are strictly my own, I feel they are accurate based on the three year ownership of the RS. Won't rehash my personal observations here as it appears to have caused great consternation even with individuals that I have never seen posted before. Curt, from what I have read, the 2006 Dyana had bearing problems. Supposedly that's been fixed. The person that commented about the motor mounts is right on and it appears to be a continuing problem. So my opinions on what I spend my money on don't count? Shame on you.

By no means did I mean that heck I would love to have me one. I think the fit and finish on the HD paint and chrome blow the R* away. If I had the money I would be riding one. I might end up selling both my R*'s in the end just to get one. I think it is awesome that you can afford one I am jealous.

CURT, Why do you have to be that way? LOL The HD Dynas don't cost that much more than the RS Midnights. I paid over $11K in the spring of 2007 for mine and the 2011 Fat Bob in black is under $15K. That's not huge monetary jump especially if one plans to pump $ into the RS.

No Thome, It was Mcdermett's in Fort Ann. I have been to all the HD dealers around here including Brunswick which I like allot, but these guys feel like the most down home. If they weren't so east jeasus far away, I would do business with them. Spitzie's is less than a mile away.

When you mentioned Troy City Garage before I knew you where in my area
The reason I asked about Brunswick is because I've know Genie Ginsburg the owner for over thirty years.
I also know her daughter Andrea and one of her sons, whose name escapes me at this time.
Genie and her kids are good people.
I have 4 friends who bought their bikes there and they never have anything bad to say about the service and parts department. Another friend bought his through Wantad Digest, but brings it there for service.
The bikes they have are all different they are an 883 sportster, a Fat Boy, a Rocker C, and a Ultra Classic Electric Glide.
I was considering the Road King Classic when I bought my Star.
It wasn't the money that was the deciding factor ( I could afford either) but other things.
After I finish my garage next summer I'm going to see if I can find an older H.D.
I'm an x Indian rider (53 Chief) so even thinking about owning a Harley seems warped to me
But I love the classic looks of an H.D. especially the older ones.

Hey Thom, I actuallly used to live in Troy when I went to HVCC after the Navy in 68. Then moved to Buffalo-graduated from UB in 72. Don't remember anyone, except a small group of people from Troy that moved about in the same direction that I did between Troy/Albany, Buffalo and Denver. Totally weird that our paths crossed all those times. I really loved my RS but had to sell it when I retired to offset bills until the pension checks started comng in.

Hay we may of meet, ya never know
I'm in Brunswick, not far from HVCC really.
You've got a couple of years on me, but when you where going to HVCC I was hanging out a a few local pubs.
Ever been to the Brothers II, Terminal Tavern, the Wagon Wheel?
Of course there where all those college bars down on River St. like the Campus.

I went to HVCC myself. Quite some time ago. I hate the service at Troy City, but like some of the owners. I always have some good conversations there. I love Brunswick HD and Spitzie's is okay too. Not sure about the service, but I love the looks of the Cross Bones, but I wasn't sure about the long ride comfort. I went out to Kinderhook(Xtreme Powersports) to get my R*, they had the best price and they have a good crew there too.

Hey Thom, My father and his buds did hill climbs on Indians and Vincents in Gillford New Hampshire early on. If one has the time, space & $$, it would be fun to rebuild them. The only watering holes that I remember from the college days in Troy are what I think are; THE GROVE, across from HVCC, & MOTHERS PLACE for bands. I usually go to Woodstock & the ADKS Down RTE 5-S and North on 30, stop at Bad Pig then head out through Amsterdam. Keep the rubberside down man. james
