new pipes 6 Years, 8 Months ago
I'm looking to change my pipes and want the deep Harley Cruiser type sound. Does anyone know of such an exhaust. Someone suggested to me Bub Big Willy's are good. I currently own Bub Stubbies, tone is too high pitch but are loud. Loud is good! High pitch tone isn't.

You might want to check out Road House brand. They have some that seem pretty deep.

As a general rule, look for long pipes with large baffle chambers. Their size will tend to help suppress the high frequency notes you are trying to get away from. Not always the case, but usually.

Sometimes they will fool you. I ran the HK 3" big straights on my Silverado. They are huge pipes, but still 'barky' on the top.

I agree with Gram about longer pipes/larger baffles, but I think that the header also has to do with the way the deepness(bass)of the pipes sound is. I'm running with the Bub Stubbies also, though I think that they sound great and have a pleasing deep sound to them, at least on my bike. My friends also agree that they sound good and deep. To each his own and good luck on your pipe quest..
PS-I've listened to the Jughuggers and they sound pretty darn good too.

Post edited by: Big Al, at: 2005/09/02 17:26

I put a set of Vance and Hines Longshots HS on my 05 Midnite Silverado 1700. Left the baffles in. A couple friend have HDs. I Rode aroud their house a couple times before pulling in, they thought it was a HD. Just another brand you might look at.

I've got the Roadhouse Classics on my 2001. Nice low rumble and decent when you get it on. I start my Roadie on some mornings between 5:30 and 6am. These will not wake up or piss off my neighbors...pj98rider

I'm looking at Roadhouse Dooleys. I have heard them and they sound deep, not to loud unless you open them up, which is how I like it. Besides, I don't want to sound like a Harley, I want them to sound like my Star . My Harley didn't sound like much all the time it was in the shop!!!

All the guys that ride Harleys that ride with me have commented that my Roadstar with the Dooleys is the best sounding bike they have ever heard, especially under load.

I installed a Vance Hinds Pro Pipe on my 04 Roadie and it sounds great. It is a two into one pipe that lowers the exhaust system, leting you swap sides and turn your passenger peg brackets upside down making it a lot more comfy for the old lady. This will also allow you to put a decent pair of bags on the bike, unlike the little purses it comes with. The pro Pipe also gives good perfomance.

Ya don't even need to buy aftermarket pipes to get the sound you're after. Just drill out your stock pipes as told in the tech tips. My h.d. bro says my Roadie sounds better than his bike, and I only went stage One!!!!!!!!!!!
