Comparing Bikes Question 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I am asking this question because I've wondered about it and don't know. Why when a Roadie is compared to a Harley it's compared to the Fat Boy. Why not the Heratige Softail? What's the difference in a Softail and a Fat Boy. Just seems to me the Roadie is more inline with the Heratige. Any care to explain this to me??? Thanks guys.

I have to agree with you, I too think that the R* is more in line with the heritage. I think the only major difference between the Fatty and the Heritage is solid wheels and front fender. I personally think that the reason the Roadie is compared to a Fatty is because its one of the most popular Harleys. Just my thoughts.

I think the majority of people don't realize that a Heritage is just a dressed up Fat Boy. It always surprises me when people tell me "My Heritage rides SO much better than a Fat Boy". Really? They are the same bike just with different accessories. Also with the way that fads come and go when the Road Star came out in 1999 it seemed (at least where I am from) that everyone stripped them down like a Fat Boy. It has been fairly recent that the whole "Bagger" thing had gained momentum and now, like oneperfectrun's bike, at first glance you think it's a Heritage. Just my opinion.

If he paid $23000 for a heritage he should be ashamed of himself. The 2010's are going for $16999. He should have bought a HD and a R* for that much And then he could compare them himself.

Weight wise it is probably closer to the Heritage. It is 30 lbs heavier than a Fatboy but I really don't know why. A Heritage in black has a MSRP of 16,999 (2011). A Roadstar in Vivid Black is 13,090 (2010) MSRP. $23,000 for Heritage? He added some serious accessories or a lot of T-shirts..lol. I will also add that having been able to ride both, I would agree for whatever reason the Heritiage has a better ride than the Fatboy. I don't know if its the rake in the front end or something different in the suspension but Fatboy is a very stiff ride.

Ok so a Heritage is just a dressed up Fat Boy. I had wondered if that was the case. Curt I agree with no comparison. I just knew when I read comparisons on the Roadie it's always compared to the Fat Boy. Now I know!!
