Belt noise 1 Year, 9 Months ago
I have been rolling my bike backwards out of the garage almost daily for two years. I just noticed a sound from the belt,it sounds like a bike with a chain. I put the bike on a flat service and it makes the sound rolling forward too. It is coming from the rear pulley and has a rubber, not a metal sound. Cant find anything damaged and have not had the wheel off since March.
Does anyone s belt make noise when rolling?

Should be the correct tension if you've never touched it. Is it centered on the rear pulley? Riding on the edge of either side will make a noise. Should be centered on the rear pulley. Put a bar of soap on both edges when it's up on a lift. Make sure you go around the belt twice on both sides. It should stop any squeaking. The tension should be at 45 degrees when twisting it in the middle at the bottom mid part of the belt. BTW, mine makes a ticking sound when backing up also. No problems to date.

Mine was a little extra noisy but it was because the belt was too tight. Loosened it a little and noise went away. Shouldn't be your problem though if it hasn't been touched since march.

Thanks Greyphart and Oneperfectrun for your input. The belt is on one side of the pulley..I probably should reline the wheel. I will try the bar of soap as well.
Take care!
