But, it's easier to get the dirty fingerprints off (after mounting) while taking the blue off. I'd rather they not be on the new white walls...

That's just me, though.

lol yup, first pair i had i thought it was just some tape, and the guy mounting them was like good luck getting that off once they are mounted, needless to say i would still see blue runs after 12k miles... the new set got washed of all the blue stuff before i brought them to the shop to get mounted this time around..

I'm going black walls. I had no trouble cleaning the whitewalls though.......just a PITA!!!!!! I used Simple green and a soft veggie brush and then rinsed them. You can get into all the nooks and crannies with the brush.

When I had whitewalls I used Magic Erasers on them to get the hard stuff off. Then used Wesleys. Got black walls now. One less headache.

i believe what he is talking about it the blue "protective" liquid they put over the white wall stays/pita to get out near the edge of rim.

if you get really hot water (plain water) and squirt it on the wheel /rim you can get all the blue off with patience and very little elbow grease

Yeah, it's not hard to wash off - on the workbench. Now I have to crawl around on the floor. That's where I'm an idiot!

I prefer leaving it on. I use the floor jack to raise the bike up and then clean the tires off after mounted. You don't want to ride around too long with that blue stuff on because the tire heats up and it bakes to the tire and it can be a PITA to remove. Even with the bleaching stuff.
