Oil Line Size? 1 Year, 8 Months ago

First, I am newly registered on RSC but have used the tech articles for years - Thank you for your help!

Unfortunately, I am having trouble that I cannot find an answer for - I believe the threads that accomodate the oil line in the aluminum starter clutch cover are damaged and missing in some spots. Having read previous posts, I am hoping to remedy the problem with heli-coil but have had trouble with finding the exact size of the oil line (part #24 in the attached diagram). Have been to part stores, auto supply, etc. but have not been able to thread it into anything that they have. I will have to order the heli-coil and the M16x1.5 looks right but have no way of checking.

If anyone has an answer, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You've stumped the clinic Was there a washer on the part #24? Try ACE hardware, heard they have a better selection of metric fasteners, which may help determine what size that nipple is. Sorry, I don't know the answer.

Go to a good hardware store. Even if the have nothing that it will thread onto they should have gauges like in a tap and die set that will give you the thread number and pitch.

See if they have a metric nut assortment and find one that fits. I don't think it's a pipe thread if it has the o-ring to seal it. Coot
