#30636 Frankallen (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 208 Gas Mileage question? 6 Years ago   Is 35 Miles a Gallon pretty good for an 05 R* with 400 miles on it? Most of the miles were in town and no long stretches...I have read where they suppose to get better mileage, when you put more miles on them,is this true?? Any help will be greatly appreciated! In town is usually where you get you worst mpg. Stop and go, on and off the gas really eats it up. My 01 Roadie has got as much as 47.1 on a road trip. By the way I'm also from Alabama, just about 40 miles south of Birmingham down hwy 280. See ya on the road. Like everyone said, it will get better with age. Mine only gets high 30's when I do short in-town trips with lots of starting with the choke and then idling, and stop and go, on the gas, off the gas, etc... I've gotten as high as 51 on Interstate at 65 mph. When it was new, I averaged 35-38 mpg.
