Blonde Moment 4 Years, 11 Months ago
Thought all might enjoy this. I took about a 220 mile ride today and the bike was running sluggish. I refilled the gas tank and thought it might help but still ran weak up hills etc.

After my ride I was wiping off the bugs from the windshield and highway bars when I discovered a plug wire hanging down on the side of the front cylinder. Man, what a dumb ass - I rode all that way on 3 plugs. I guess I never put the plug wire back after last weeks cleaning. My wife told me I'm playing with the damn bike too much! Oh well.

Well, I think it was a prudent preventative measure on your part. That's ONE valve that won't be sticking! Just make sure to rotate them!

Hey Cougar - the wife gets plenty of play time but only at night when I don't like to ride (the bike)! 3 kids take all the daylight hours!

Roadkill,

Just read your reply and actually belly laughed. With my belly, that's saying something. Thanks for the opportunity to test my chair's vibratory tolerances.

All in fun...I've done similar to Roadstarga's little plug mishap. I did some work the other day, simple stuff, and started up the bike. It ran great for about 30 seconds, then died. I couldn't get it restarted to save my life.

HELPFUL HINT: Reconnect the fuel line from the petcock to the fuel pump...the bike runs much better.

Hey roadstarga, don't fight it. Just roll with it. I once took an eight mile ride with a big ole hockey sock stuffed in the stock air cleaner. It explains why she started so hard but the funny thing was she ran just fine. I put the sock there to keep mice out and just plain forgot about it. CRS I guess.

Not sure but I think when anything hockey is blocking an air cleaner your required to pull to the side of the road for 2 mins for interference.

Your right. I should pay a penalty. I'll turn myself in at the nearest Hooters to be spanked by the full staff of waitresses for exactly two minutes. The sock in the air cleaner opening came from an experience with mice climbing up the bike cover and stashing bird seed in the exhaust pipes. The lesson here is to RED flag things like that as they do on aircraft. Oh ya, and use mouse traps.
