You will sort of get used to the seat, and it will do a little breaking in itself. I know exactly what you mean about the wedge. I haven't seen a Roadie seat that did not have some sort of wedge, although a Ultimate doesn't seem to have as much. I wonder of you could grind out some and make it more straight up, then have an upholstery shop redo the cover. Maybe if I get a Dragger seat, I'll take apart the Mustang and see if there is enough padding back there to play with it.

Re:New Mustang Seat 1 Year, 8 Months ago
I've got a Corbin dual-tour with backrest - seat position is perfect - seat is a bit firm (much better with the help of an Alaska Leather sheepskin cover) - I am about 5'11, 180 lbs - 32" inseam. I had bought a Mustang from the classified here, used it for 10 miles and sold it due to the seating position - pushed me WAY too far forward (same seat you have; dual seating & backrest - nice, cushy seat, horrible location for my preferences)

I DO wish the Corbin had more cushion, but wouldn't trade it anyway - went on a good 330+ mile ride last Saturday - could have rode twice the distance I think . . .

I,ve put 42,000+ miles on my Mustang seat and it works great for me. It did take a few miles to shape to my butt. I'm 5'9",200lbs. Anyway redoing the stock seat and adding a back rest to it might be what you need.

Fireman, funny you should mention that, a couple of hours ago I took off the Mustang seat to see if I could re-shape the aft wedge, problem is, the backrest bar is there which may hamper the undertaking, where with the Ultimate seat, the backrest bar is in the passenger seat...forcing you to buy a passenger seat (good business sense I guess)...however, I think I may have the re-shaping of the Mustang Seat figure out now, you'll know if it didn't work when I come whining because I ruined a not so perfect brand new seat

Mine doesn't have the backrest, unfortunately. If you give up on the Mustang, I have a PCS reshaped stock seat you can try out if ya pay for shipping.

I didn't like the mustang at first, I'm 6' 215 and I can ride in comfort for days ,rest stops every 2 hours for a smoke and pee. I have the studded with a backrest.

Hey, Jona--

If you want, you can try the stock PCS seat out and save you & Fireman the trouble...it's what I have on my bike now. When we get together to rejet your "Toadie" (just seems wrong calling it that ), you're welcome to try it out. I've never sat on a Mustang seat & always wanted to try one out. Hell, I also have a Yamaha Stiletto Solo Seat (an older one from back when they were made by Corbin for Yamaha-they aren't anymore). Who knows...maybe I can throw in some other chromey-shiny-pretty parts you need and make a trade if it's good for both. Anyway, I'll bring it with me and you're welcome to try it out.

See ya after the 15th!

If I had to do it all over aging and if I had the money I would have purchased a Ultimate seat I hate my Mustang seat. I had it about 6 months. But I sold my stock one LOL

I wouldn't give up my Dual Touring Corbin for anything. The position at 6'2" is great. I am however only 175 so maybe that is a difference. But still the corbin is the best seat i have rode on.
