Here is an odd question Clifford -

As current, my front tire has a little over 3 ounces of weight - would I need to put in 2 ounces or put in as much or more than the tire is out of balance?

You have 3 oz of balancing weights on your front tire?? Wow, I would never have left the shop with a tire like that. Something is wrong there...

Is there a reason you put in 3 oz. vs. 2 oz. as per dynabeads recommendations?

I haven't seen any problems with puting in the amount that they recommend. I would say to take the existing weights off and put in the 2 oz and see how it goes then if you think it needs more then add another oz.Of course if it makes you feel better go ahead and give it three oz; that will be another $2.50 and a couple minits more time.

In my shop I haven't had anybody complain after putting in the recomended amount. When I mount a tire and the customer has said that he wants Dyna Beads; I put them in with the tire half mounted. And with the tube type I put in air to seat the beads then put in the beads. In either case it wasn't checked for normal balance to start with.

The 3 ounces are closer to the center of the wheel while the Dyna Beads are working at the outer circumference of the tire and wheel assembly. The farther out the weight is the less it takes to achieve the same balance.

That's why they make patch type weights that are stuck to the inner surface of those big mudder type tires with the small wheel.

Thought someone might be interested.
