Marvel Mystery Oil Question?? 4 Years, 11 Months ago
Do y'all think it would hurt my Bike to add a capful or 2 of MMO to each tankfull of Gas? I only have around 600 miles on my new 05 Midnight Star now. The only reason I am wanting to do this, is that it may possibly prevent my Bike from ever getting the dreaded "SVS" (which scares the crap out of me)....Do y'all think this will work? Can it harm my Bike?...Any help will be greatly Appreciated

Thanks,

Frank from Bama

Frank--

Not gonna harm a thing, especially at that concentration. As a matter of fact, I've been doing just as you described since I got my bike over a year ago. I bought mine used, and the previous owner was, from what I was told, a woman who was basically scared of the bike and putted (lugging the engine) around Phoenix for the 2 years she had it. Basically, mine came with SVS.

Well, OF COURSE they were marketed to women! For several reasons...

1) Women have better design taste than men, and Yami knew women would only buy the most tasteful, best-looking ones.

2) Yamaha also knew that women, for the most part (pardon me on this one 1700Chris), were not nearly as familiar with motorcycles as men. Yami knew when women saw the white ones, they would have NO idea how fast they were, and that they would buy them on looks and sex appeal alone. Men, however, realized the speed potential of the white Roadies...so after the fright and anxiety attacks calmed down, they bought the black ones to be safe. Besides, the black bikes are the only color that offer the training wheels option...

Hey RK - how long did it take you to clear up your SVS.

Maybe we can make some new patches "SVS Survivor"

I run 1 oz per gallon about every third tankfull. Mainly try to get it treated before a road trip where I'll be buying gas from people I don't know. Treat it again when I get back and then try to hit about every third fill up when home.

A time or two, when I've suspected (imagined ?) a problem, I hit it a couple of tanks in a row, and whatever the problem is seems to go away.

I'm a believer.

Post edited by: dryriver, at: 2007/06/24 11:21

I would rather be on my bike thinking about God, than sitting in church thinking about my bike.

Well, I started last year before the winter season...took Doc's advice and sprayed the straight MMO in the carb throat till she died, then let it sit overnight. that started the healing...then MMO in every tank. About 3 tanks before I got really noticeable results. It was running better (but not all fixed) when winter came. First thing I did this year was a Seafoam shock treatment, rode the piss out of it, and new oil. Not even a HINT of the bike wanting to suck tissue into the tailpipe now.
