Victory factory demo ride 1 Year, 7 Months ago
.Just got back from a Victory factory demo ride & wanted to share my thoughts. Appearance, you gotta decide for youself. (They're growing on me) & you can't see it while your riding it . Sitting on it, it feels 50lbs+ lighter than a roadstar. Fit & finish seem very good. The engine sounds very tight & quiet. Clutch engagement is vague & it doesn't have the roadies torque just above idle. (advantage roadie)Mid range is about equal, but as the roadie is signing off, Man does the Victory pull. I took it up to 6k rpm(SWEET). The transmission is notchy. I never missed a shift, it just doesn't shift like a roadie(advantage roadie)I almost lost it in the first turn, IT TAKES VERY LITTLE EFFORT TO TURN THIS BIKE. It's very stable & the suspenion is 1st rate. Brakes are very good also. Ultimate/Mustang aren't going to sell many seats for these bikes. I'm 6'3",285lbs & I gotta tell ya, "this is one comfortable bike. I had plenty of room. One more feature,6th gear,ARE YOU LISTENING YAMAHA ? If you get a chance to go to the demo ride, do it. They give you a cool tee shirt also

In my opinion Yamaha better wake up and smell the coffee. The other guys have way more options anymore. Without choices their sales will suffer. Just look at Victorys different models and color choices. Not with Yamaha.

Last year I got a set of keys for a victory tossed to me by Arlen Ness at his shop one evening and my impessions were the same. No giant thrust like the Roadie at the bottom end but it damn sure kept pulling. Almost ass-ended a county sheriff!
I found it a really good ride and loved it that the model I rode had pegs not boards.

One of the nurses at my work has a new 2010 Victory Cross Country. He loves the flip out of this bike. He has taken it 1,000 miles since May of this year and never shuts up on how comfy, and smooth it is. I love my new R*, and dont think I would ever own a Victory, but they are sure turning the heads of alot of people.

The December issue of Cruiser Magazine tested the Harley Street Glide, the Victory Cross Country and the Yamaha Stratoliner Delux. Power wise the Yami dusted both, Handling they were all very close. The Strat has teh guages in the tank not in the Batwing making the rider have to lower his eyes to see the gauges. Also the strat only had a 4.5 Gallon Tank getting about 175 miles before refueling. teh Strat did not have Crash Bars so just dropping the bike will bust things up espically the extra wide Saddlebags. They Harley looks like all the other Harleys, The Victory however looked prety good. I would definitely look into one if could afford a new bike .

I really like the look of the cross country and have not ridden one,but I would like too. The articles I've read make it sound good.

I'm really liking the new Victory Cross-Country - nice looking bike, good options ... may have to look closer this spring! I'm thinking of either the Victory or the new Kawi Vaquero for a second mount. Like a lot of the tech on the Victory, just not sure that I want to spend 18k ....
