Supposed to be a blustery 92 degrees today Funny how that can actually feel a bit cool after the summer. Important that your air-cool bike is't running lean around here!

PS-in order keep my battery cool and make it last, I mount an Igloo cooler on my luggage rack and keep the battery in there with extended battery cables when I ride!

I use the $5 float charger from harbor freight. I use one on the the bike (for winter storage) and one one the lawn tractor/snowblower. They are alway ready for use when I need them.

I know " opinions are like a**holes " and everybodys gots one so here's mine ! I bought a Yuasa Tender some years back for my Venture Royale just to keep it up during my off riding peroid. Believed I was savy in doing so to save on batteries. Well as a neighbor friend and factory trained HD mechanic put it, does your bike come with a battery tender when you buy it ? NO, and if it does beware ! If you do what the bike was designed for which is ride it and your charging system is good, you do not need a tender. If you buy a bike with pigtails attached, again beware ! An hour a month of riding is sufficient enough to keep a battery good if all else is well ! My persoanal metric mechanic I've used for 7+ years believes the same. But I guess geography and weather are a big factor. Anyway, personally here in the SW I haven't used my tender for the last 4 yrs but it's available if I need it .

Save your money for about a month, last year with "black friday" after Thanksgiving I picked up the 4 station battery tender for $100 delivered to the door.If you follow them at Amazon I am sure they will drop.

Unfortunately there are "factory trained" technicians out there that still don't know that the bike's charging system won't top off the charge on a battery. It'll bring it up to a working level but not all the way. Not all the way means it's going to sulfate a tiny bit and over time that can mean the difference between a 6 or 7 year life and the 4 year life that is seen a lot of the time.

Your car is the same way - put a Battery Tender on it when it's parked and you'll see a longer battery life.

My charging system is working like it should and I don't have driving lights or other power accessories yet after a long highway ride I can hook it to the Tender and the green light will start flashing indicating between 80 and 100 percent charged. I don't know how far below 100% it is but if I didn't keep it topped off then over a shorter time it would slowly start to lose its ability to accept a full charge.
