Ok, you checked all 3 of your switches, but what tells the system that you are in neutral? must be a sensor in the tranny somewhere that indicates neutral and allows you to start it, but when you shift to first that same sensor may possibly be shutting you down...

John I looked up the parts and the neutral safety switch is around $20, the kickstand switch is around $50, the clutch switch you have to buy the whole housing which is over $200. Sure hope you van find what is wrong and it is cheap. Good luck buddy.

Did you check for continuity of the wiring for the safety switches? Maybe a break in the wiring.

hey guy's

update!!

got it started "runs in gear"

played with the clutch switch & the wiring to the headlight.

not sure yet if it's the switch or wiring

question: can i follow the 2-wires from the switch into
headlight (then bug them together and by-pass that clutch switch
& wiring all together?)

this way the switch & wiring to the headlight is not being used
at all! (bad switch or broken wire)

thanks

bartish

I would take your ohm meter and check the wires rather than bypass everything. BTW I'm sorry I missed your call sounds like you are close to getting it fixed.

Check the connectors for a light coating of corrosion, also if a little shot of WD40 will clean the switch if any will seep in. Good Luck! I'm glad you narrowed it down, but like was said I wouldn't bypass the switch, it should be fairly easy ro fix now that you are on top of the problem.
