back seat for children 4 Years, 11 Months ago
We just bought an 01 Silverado and my 4 year old daughter and 5 year old son like to ride on it but they have to hold on to our shirts which makes it really hard for them to see. My grandfather had a Gold Wing and they like the fact that they have handles to hold on to and a seat to lean back on. My daughter recently dozed off on a ride and I am scared she will fall off. I wanted to know if there was some type of restraint or handles that they make to put on the back for her to be able to sit back and have something to hold her on better .

Post edited by: michellerooker7, at: 2007/06/27 22:47

The best and cheapest handles that I have found are the tie down straps with loops on each end. I loop it through my belt and it gives the kids two loop handles to hold on to. I also have the back rest so that they are able to lean back on it. My daughter is 8 and my son is almost 11. I am not sure about the falling asleep part mine have never done that.

My 6 year old daughter spends all day in camp. i pick her up on my bike, she has dozed off 3 or 4 times. We make it across town, then I hav eher sit in front of me. My bike is too freaking big to pinch her between the sissy bar and me. They make a "buddy belt", it's got handles for them to hold onto.

Try www.buddybelt.com. Doing the Google thing may also bring up harnesses for dogs but tried the aforementioned link. I have seen harnesses advertised in cycle magazines where the child is physically attached via a double harness to the driver. Can't remember where though. Good luck and ride safe.
